Yamba is a senior learning support unit for students with Autism. The unit offers individual programs exposing children to all ELA’s alongside valuable socialisation and life skills. The teaching staff consists of a full time teacher and a full time school assistant.
The children in Yamba are encouraged to fulfil their potential and celebrate their well earned achievements through specialised programs. All children belong to a mainstream primary class where they participate in shared experiences with their peers such as excursions, assemblies, sports programs, IBIC units of work and other every day school interactions. Inclusion for numeracy and literacy is offered to students whose capabilities allow for more independence and require less intervention.
The students in Yamba unit make a valuable contribution to the whole school community.
