Camps and Excursions

Camps and excursions are an integral part of the school curriculum. They provide experiences of life beyond the classroom.

Children are prepared, guided and provided with opportunities to evaluate their experience. In the past, years ¾ have had an overnight trip to the Snowy Hydro as part of their study of water use and conservations and Years 5/6 have had a two night trip to Cooba (near Jindabyne) participating in a team leadership and cooperation activities.

Witten consent is required from parents/carers before a child is able to participate in an excursion.

No child is excluded from and excursion because of financial hardship. The school is able to provide financial support for families experiencing financial hardship. If in this position, parents/carers can approach the principal.

Changes in Parent/Carer Contact Details

Please inform the school at the earliest possible opportunity of any address, phone number or other contact changes. If changes in family circumstances occur, or if a child has a specific medical problem, please advise the class teacher. Social and academic performance can be affected by changing circumstances. When the teacher is aware, the situation can be handled with sensitivity. Confidentiality is always observed.

Communicable Diseases Exclusion Periods

Parents enrolling children in ACT Government Schools must supply the school with an immunisation record. Children who are not immunised may be asked to stay away from school if there is an outbreak of a communicable disease.

Contacting Your Child During School Day

If your child has forgotten their lunch or materials or if you need to get a message to your child during the day, contact the Front Office. Staff will ensure that lunches or materials or messages will be given to children. This practice ensures that teaching and learning time is not interrupted.
